Indeed, the imp is on Pete's profile pictures across the online art communities - from his blog, facebook page, deviant art profile to his official website. And that imp rules the realm of "Imps and things", a collection of Pete's mystical creatures inspired by the classical Froudian fantasy settings - tales from "The Storyteller" we all love, tales about the dark crystal from the world of Thra - world we all entered when we were kids, world we never left.
The "Imps and Things" sculptures are all mixed media creations, meaning a variety of materials were used in the making process. Usually the base structure is an aluminum wire armature supporting layers of an aluminum foil, paper mache and polymer clay painted and patinated with thinned acrylic paints for fine detailing on heads, hands and feet.
The Scrounger
Various fabrics and leather are used for clothing, belts and headgear. Staves are sometimes made of wood as well as pipes and vast of other details differing from one sculpture to another.
The Old Hag of The Deepwood
Artist attention to detail is simply brilliant and it serves the purpose of fine characterization quite nicely. Just look at Chief's toe nails :-)
The Chief
The pictures of the imps and trolls were taken in their natural habitat, roaming around with no particular interest in Pete's camera...
The Wise One
Imp Shaman
Recently, Pete has shown more interest in world of steampunk. "I became fascinated with the whole steampunk genre after doing a project with a group of GCSE students on the theme of Jules Verne's 20.000 Leagues Under The Sea. I love creating leather coated characters and using found objects to create Victorian style paraphernalia, if for no other reason then i have had to explore new skills and methods of working".
I have also collected some pictures of Pete's The Profesor's Steampunk Emporium collection of steampunk themed sculptures.
Steampunk Biker
The Steampunk Gentlemen
The Steampunk Spider
Steampunk Cyborg Technomancer
