The Sculptor of the Bizarre: Tom Kuebler

About a year ago, browsing the web i ran into a picture (at the left) of Tom Kuebler's silicone sculpture Baba Yaga and i got instantly teleported to my childhood, dreading about that old scary lady living next door, drolling over chubby kids. As i was digging deeper in to the horrifying yet wonderful art of Thomas Kuebler, i got utterly overwhelmed by the tempest of stories carved deep into each sculpture. The characterization is simply epic. His sculptures are teeming with character to the point where their emotions become evident. Realism is beyond stunning, yet somehow subordinated to the pure and striking story. Seeing Baba Yaga alive would perhaps make me wanna hug her although she still terrifies me.

About us...

Fantasy /ˈfæntəsi/ - Variety of fictional settings, imaginary worlds and magical creatures ontologically classified as physically nonexistent. We understand fantasy as quite a broad term, covering a multigenre fictional diversity - from classical and epic fantasy, science fiction, steampunk and even horror to surrealism and conceptual art.

Sculpting /ˈskʌlptɪŋ/ - Shaping, carving, forming a material (clay, wood, ceramics, metal, plastic, anything) in order to represent an idea and give that idea its physical existence in a form of sculpture.

Fantasy sculpting therefor means giving the fictional its physical existance :) and this blog is all about exploring the possibilities, techniques, materials and stuff to recreate fantasy into a form of sculpture through the hands of an artist and the eyes of the spectator.

Bringing together artists and art lovers from around the globe is our main goal.

Pete's Imps and Things, and more...

His name is Pete Simpson, he is an art teacher, his students love him and thats about it. I spent two and a half hours tabbing my browser down to the favicon fest, seeking for more information about this extraordinary sculptor. I finally quit at the point where i figured Pete Simpson is the imp on the picture, having fun mocking me :-)
Indeed, the imp is on Pete's profile pictures across the online art communities - from his blog, facebook page, deviant art profile to his official website. And that imp rules the realm of "Imps and things", a collection of Pete's mystical creatures inspired by the classical Froudian fantasy settings - tales from "The Storyteller" we all love, tales about the dark crystal from the world of Thra - world we all entered when we were kids, world we never left.
